Lower Triglycerides with Fatty Fish

Sardine Sandwich Anyone? Eating more fatty fishes, such as sardines, mackerel, salmon and anchovies, may help lower triglycerides.

Blood triglyceride levels are tricky; this sticky substance can rise even in younger people and despite eating reasonably healthful foods. Scientists found that Alaskan Eskimos whom generally consume high levels of omega-3 fatty acid rich fish had low blood triglyceride levels. The research was published in the journal Metabolism, and the link between eating fatty fish and lower triglycerides existed regardless of a person’s waist circumference. Aim for at least two servings of fish per week. Canned sardines can be an economical choice and have inspired throngs of (closet) sardine sandwich lovers.
