Kids live for love—and we live for our kids. Show those sweet faces just how much you care on Valentine’s Day by making a slew of love-themed goodies. The best part is, with our collection of treats below there’s no going at it alone. Your kids will gladly jump in to help and your time spent together will surely be the sweetest thing of all:
Chocolate Dipped Pretzels:
For a super simple project, make chocolate dipped pretzels. Place a few blocks of Bakers Dipping Chocolate in a tall cup and melt in the microwave. Let kids dip pretzel sticks into mix then lay them down on wax paper. Sprinkle crushed nuts, heart sprinkles or coconut over drying sticks for pizzazz.
Cootie Cutie Cupcakes:
If your kids are at the age where they think the opposite sex carries diseases on the level of the bubonic plague, make delectably cute love bugs from our red velvet cupcake recipe.
First bake the cakes and prepare icing according to directions. Kids can help in the process by stirring and adding most ingredients, although keep food dye far from their mess-prone hands. Divide icing into bowls and create different colors by adding drops of food dye to each.
Ice cakes and lay two halves of a soft cookie (Oreo sandwiches work well) on top to create ladybug like wings. Decorate the cookies in another color by adding icing dots or even small candies on top if desired. Where the wings hinge together attach a candy heart with a dab of icing. To finish, tuck six small pieces of licorice string between the cookie and cake for legs.
Sugar Cookies With Heart:
Not just for Christmas, let your kids use heart shaped cookie cutters to make our sugar cookie recipe festive. Ice with a simple butter cream frosting then let your kids go crazy with pink and red sprinkles.
