Whether you’ve been raised down at the bayou or in upstate New York, Cajun cooking has a way of making everyone feel at home. This quick New Orleans spice rub can be used on everything from salmon to chicken to beef, and is so simple it only takes one sentence to spell out:

Combine a tablespoon each garlic powder, onion powder and sugar, a teaspoon each salt, black pepper, dried basil and paprika and 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper.

If you’re not into mixing spices or short on time, you can buy similar all natural spice blends, with no additives or artificial ingredients. If you can’t get enough of of Cajun cooking, try one of our southern soul-filled recipes.
