We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day—the steadfast foodie virtue has been ringing in our ears since kindergarten. But in the wee small hours of the morning, the ring is often eclipsed by an incredibly obnoxious alarm. No matter how puffy-faced, sleepy or late you may be, never let the morning rob you of a energizing breakfast with the following quick and easy recipes:


Silky Breakfast Smoothies: Blend and bolt is the beauty of smoothies—and with so many personal blenders on the market, there is oftentimes only one cup to clean up. Keep your smoothies fresh each morning by trying unique combinations of frozen fruit, greens and juices. For an easy mix, blend a banana, five frozen strawberries, orange juice and a large handful of ice. Pair with an apple or breakfast bar if you want something more substantial. Breakfast Bars: Take your favorite homemade cereal from bowl to bar with make-ahead granola bars. Just mix your chosen recipe’s base adhesive components (butter, honey, sugar or oils) and dry ingredients (oats or cereals) then adjust the rest to taste. Try adding chocolate chips, flax seeds, jams, dried fruits or nuts for interesting textures. Bake the recipe when you’re feeling energized during the day, then store for weeklong morning use.
